Clare TD Says More Consultation With Travelling Community Needed To Combat Homelessness

Clare’s Sinn Fein TD believes more consultation with the Travelling community is needed to ensure an adequate accommodation programme can be operational in this county.
It’s believed as many as half of the approximately 70 people identifying as homeless in Clare are from the Travelling community, which is as much as three times higher than the national average.
The local authority has previously told Clare FM that it spent more than 1 million euro on traveller accommodation schemes last year, following concerns about the setup of illegal encampments in the county.

Cabinet Meeting To Sign Off On New Living With COVID Plan

Cabinet are meeting this afternoon to sign off on the Living with Covid Plan.
Level 5 restrictions will be extended until at least April 5th, with construction remaining shut for another month.
Clare’s Sinn Fein TD say clarity would be welcome, but has criticised the Government over ongoing leaks ahead of annoucnements.

Last night the cabinet sub-committee on COVID agreed to extend Level 5 restrictions until at least April 5th, when there will be a review.
The only changes will be the re-opening of schools and childcare.
Leaving Cert students, and primary students up to 2nd class will return to the classroom next Monday, March 1st, while 5th years and the remainder of primary students will be back on March 15th. ....

Legislation Needed To Stop Accent Discrimination - Wynne


Clare’s Sinn Fein TD is set to introduce a Bill which would make it illegal to discriminate against somebody in the workplace due to their accent or socio-economic background.
The Bill, if passed, would make it illegal for employers to unfairly treat a job applicant or current employee based on how they sound or where they come from.
Kilrush-based Deputy Violet-Anne Wynne will introduce the Bill along with her party colleague, Dublin Bay South TD Chris Andrews, following concerns raised by constituents.
