Lahinch Hotelier Fears Mandatory Quarantine Could Be Damaging For Tourism

A North Clare hotelier claims current rules surrounding mandatory hotel quarantine could be damaging for the country’s reputation as a tourist destination.
Arrivals from 58 countries now have to stay in the facilities for 12 nights at their own expense or run the risk of jail-time or a fine.
It’s feared the midwest could be disproportionately impacted by the introduction of mandatory quarantine for all passengers due to the high level of business and leisure tourism from the states.

Clare Hotelier Not Confident In 2021 International Tourism Market

A Clare Hotelier expects there to be another strong focus on the staycation market for the tourism season of 2021.
While hopes have been raised of a return of international travel next year, especially in tandem with the rollout of a COVID-19 vaccine, it will likely be well into the New year before enough of the population is vaccinated to make significant difference.
The call on people to holiday at home this summer saw large numbers travel to Clare this year, and those operating in the sector say this will be crucial once more.
