Its becoming very violent,. Its rampant, all over the Bay Area. Whats the best way to prevent catalytic converter thefts . So now, manufacturers are selling these plates underneath the car to cover up the catalytic converter, so it basically slows them down. My mechanic showed me a very neat trick recently, he put a couple of three pieces of rebar , and welded to the catalytic converter, very cheap takes no more than 30 to 40 bucks, its not going to stop the saying but it will slow them down, and hopefully that will deter them from doing it.
