13 agencies come together to form St. Clair County Drug Enforcement Unit

ASHVILLE The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office announced the formation of a new multi-agency unit to help combat drugs throughout the county.
Members of 13 local law enforcement agencies are a part of a specialized unit that Sheriff Billy Murray said will “protect our communities against the sale and distribution of illegal narcotics.”
The St. Clair County Drug Enforcement Unit will work alongside the FBI and the North Alabama Safe Streets Task Force.
“This specialized, highly trained group of law enforcement officers will comprise a working partnership with the FBI and the North Alabama Safe Streets Task Force to share resources, manage and investigate drug crime within St. Clair County and its borders,” said Murray. ....

A young Moody boy is being lauded for his bravery after he pulled his sister to safety during an armed carjacking on Thursday.
The ordeal began about 1:30 p.m. when Kristin Walker was putting gas into her vehicle in the area of U.S. 411 and Interstate 20. Her two small children – 9-year-old Ethan and 6-year-old daughter Audrey – were in the back seat. At that point, a man got out of a Chevrolet SUV which had been parked at a pump near the victim and jumped into the driver’s seat of the woman’s vehicle. ....
