By Ryan Young The deadline for submissions for the 2021 Yorkton Film Festival is January 31st. Executive Director Randy Goulden says they’ve already had quite a few submissions for the May 27th to 30th event. She says they’re just a little over what they usually get at this time of the process, so they’re pleased. As for whether the festival will be open to the public, or held virtually again, Goulden says a decision will be made in March. “Our board will be looking at that probably mid-February to see where we are in the process. We will be talking with other festivals that are dated for around that time to see what we’re doing collectively to keep our industry safe.” Goulden explained. ....

Meili says each and every person in Saskatchewan deserves to know the situation we are in and that hiding information is not right because it is not helping in the fight to stop the virus that has claimed the lives of 200 people since the pandemic started. “What number of cases per day or total active cases will trigger further restrictions and what do they need to drop to for those restrictions to be reduced.” Meili stated as he spoke with reporters at the Saskatchewan Legislature. “What are the next level of restrictions if things get worse, where do we go next? We need to be clear about that.” ....
By Ryan Young Jan 12, 2021 5:52 PM A man accused of taking part in a violent home invasion in Yorkton, has had another court appearance. The matters for 24-year-old Jordan Ironstand were heard in Yorkton today (Tue), where he was remanded in custody for a Preliminary Inquiry on April 7th. Yorkton RCMP say three people forcibly entered a residence in March of 2019, and assaulted two people inside. Ironstand’s two co-accused were sentenced to jail time for their roles in the incident. ....
