By Ryan Young The Yorkton Exhibition Association officially broke ground on the New Grandstand Project. Roughly 450-thousand of the 600-thousand dollar project has been raised. Past President of the Yorkton Exhibition Association Lori Walsh says while the ground breaking is exciting news, the project is still conducting some fundraising. “We’ve got several ideas that are looming on different ways that we can potentially raise the funds,” Walsh said. “But the good news is that we are also certain that in the future we’ll be able to host events that will be specific fundraisers for this.” Anyone wanting to contribute towards the project can visit www.yorktonexhibition.com or call 306-783-4800. ....
By Ryan Young Feb 5, 2021 12:36 AM The Canada Revenue Agency is reminding everyone to check for any benefits they may be able to apply for in their taxes, and in Saskatchewan, Alberta, Manitoba and Ontario, that includes the climate action incentive payment. Saskatchewan CRA spokesperson, Joanne De Waal (dee wall) says the payment is for any provinces that don’t have their own climate action plan accepted by the federal government. The payment has gone up this year to an average of $1,000 for an eligible family of four. For single people, it’s $500 and a total of $750 for a couple. The federal government says in the provinces with a carbon tax, most households receive more money back than they would pay through the tax. ....
By Ryan Young Feb 4, 2021 6:39 PM Lynn Lake RCMP say foul play is not suspected, but they continue investigating the death of a 37 year old man. He and a 25 year old had set out for Pukatawagan on snowmobile February 1st, but never arrived. As a search was getting underway, the 25 year old was found with severe hypothermia symptoms, and was taken to hospital. Further up the trail searchers found the body of the 37 year old with the snowmobile. He’s been identified as Johnson Bighetty of Black Sturgeon Falls. ....
