San Angelo's Ken Landon, waterlily, firework legend passes away

SAN ANGELO Ken Landon, who created stunning works of art both in the sky and in the water, died unexpectedly in his home Wednesday. He was 75.
Landon touched the lives of many San Angelo residents with his creations at the International Waterlily Garden, 2. S. Park St., which garnered attention not only in the Concho Valley but in publications like the Washington Post and the New York Times.
He was considered an expert in waterlilies, the Indiana Jones of the waterlily world and an avid collector, according to internationalwaterlilycollection.com.
And while many residents may never have met Landon personally, they likely marveled at the pyrotechnics he designed for San Angelo s July firework shows. ....
