The Civil Society Organisations in Election Programming has urged political leaders to compromise and accommodate each other to consolidate Ghana s democratic gains.
A statement issued by the CSOs Coalition, copied to the Ghana News Agency said: Today, 7th January 2021, Ghanaians are waking up to video recordings and media reportage of the appalling scenes in the Parliament of Ghana that characterized the sacred and solemn process of electing a Speaker of Parliament and swearing in of Members of Parliament .
The scenes witnessed by Ghanaians, and played out before the international community, betrayed our political leaders proclamations, and expressed commitments, to democratic principles, the rule of law and the pursuit of the public interest. ....

IMANI, CDD, IDEG, other CSOs criticise ban on NDC demonstrations
Top Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in Ghana have appealed in a statement to the Ghana Police Service to preserve their impartiality to protect national peace and security.
The statement, dated Wednesday, December 31, 2020, is signed by Civic Forum Initiative (CFI), Institute for Democratic Governance (IDEG), Centre for Democratic Development (CDD), Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), Norsaac, The Ark Foundation, Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC), Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII), Citizens’ Movement Against Corruption (CMAC), IMANI and STAR Ghana Foundation.
According to the CSOs, the directive by the police placing a temporary ban on demonstrations and protests by National Democratic Congress (NDC) over December 7, 2020, presidential and parliamentary elections is unsettling. ....

Fast-track investigations into election violence and let all know – CSOs to police
A group of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) has commended the Ghana Police Service for the role played in maintaining peace and security before, during and after the December 7 elections.
But the CSOs have raised concerns about the impartiality the police in recent times, especially as supporters of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) continue to protest on the streets over results of the elections.
These conclusions were made in a virtual meeting of the CSOs held on Monday, December 28.
The CSOs are Civic Forum Initiative (CFI), Institute for Democratic Governance (IDEG), Centre for Democratic Development (CDD), Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), Norsaac and The Ark Foundation. ....

The failure of hundreds of civil society organisations to get registered with the Department of Social Development and the appeal to the Electoral Commission to review its decision to go on a month-long leave after the December 7 general election are some of the leading stories in the Ghanaian press on Wednesday.

 The Audit Service on Tuesday indicated its readiness to surcharge any participating commercial bank,that defaults in transferring tax receipts collected from the various transit accounts into the respective Bank of Ghana Holding Accounts.
 
 
A statement issued in Accra by Mr George Swanzy Winful, Deputy Auditor General said “Our attention has been drawn to a publication in the social media in connection with our letter No. EID/B.Line/AUD/20/7 issued on the October 5, 2020 concerning our audit observation on transfer of tax receipts by GCB to unknown sources amounting to GH¢52.5 billion. ....
