Nine indicted on criminal charges in flint water crisis investigation

LANSING Michigan Solicitor General Fadwa Hammoud and Wayne County Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy announced last week that after 12 months of grand jury proceedings, nine individuals have been indicted on a total of 42 counts related to a series of alleged actions and inactions that created the historic injustice of the Flint Water Crisis. The Chief Judge of the Seventh Circuit in Genesee County appointed Judge David Newblatt to act as a one-man grand jury to investigate crimes related to the crisis. Indictments were issued after the grand juror listened to and evaluated the evidence presented. ....

We all know it was bound to happen with Whitmer and Nessel in office. They told us during their campaigns that they were looking to charge ex-Governor Rick Snyder with a crime for his role in the Flint water crisis.
As I reported the other day, former Republican Governor Snyder was charged with two counts of willful neglect, both misdemeanors which each carry a maximum sentence of one year in prison and a fine up to $1,000.
Two misdemeanors for willful neglect that lead to people being physically harmed and some dying. Sounds like his bet to endorse far left Joe Biden for President, say nasty words about President Trump and lie by saying President Trump did not create a good economy those jobs were all in the pipeline really paid off for him. I believe if he did what the Democrats are saying he did he is getting off extremely light. ....

As we talked about on our podcast this week, there have been two major developments in the Flint Water Crisis since in the past couple of months. First, in November, there was a major settlement between Flint plaintiffs and the City of Flint, McLaren Regional Medical Center and Rowe Professional Services Co., a city contractor. The settlement was for $641.2 million but, of course, lawyers will take as much as a third of that.
This past week, the office of Attorney General Dana Nessel announced charges against nine defendants:

The Michigan Attorney General s Office Thursday announced criminal charges for eight former state officials, including the state s former Gov. Rick Snyder, along with one current official, for their alleged roles in the Flint water crisis.
Together the group face 42 counts related to the drinking water catastrophe roughly seven years ago. The crimes range from perjury to misconduct in office to involuntary manslaughter.
The drinking water debacle is linked to at least 12 deaths and at least 80 people sickened with Legionnaires disease after untreated water from the Flint River caused lead to leach from old pipes, poisoning the majority Black city s water system. ....
