(WAND) - The Illinois Housing Development Authority Board approved $19 million to support affordable housing and community revitalization efforts across Illinois.
On the former footprint of St. James Hospital in downtown Chicago Heights, affordable housing for veterans is underway, promising amenities including raised planting beds for community gardens and places for service animals.

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL The pandemic has caused many people seeking employment to have a tough time doing so, including public safety officials. But here in Chicago Heights, the police department announced it is looking to hire entry level officers, and recently opened applications for candidates to fill out.
