The Fairfield Fall Fun fest kicks off thus Wednesday. The fun start at 6pm with Roasted Chestnuts on the main stage sponsored by the Wayne County Press. Also on Thursday is Church Night Gospel Music at 7pm on the main stage sponsored by Johnson and Vaughn Funeral Home. Thursday is the Fairfield National Bank 5k run/walk with registration at 4:30 on the corner of Court and 4th streets, 6pm race at the corner of Court and 4th street and at 7pm the awards, also on Thursday, Fun Fest Prince and Princess Contest at 5:30 on the main stage sponsored by Fairfield Banking Company, Miss Fall Fun Fest starts at 8pm on the main stage co sponsored by The Chop Shop and Fry's Excavating. More than $525,000 in scholarships and monetary awards was awarded to Fairfield Community High School seniors yesterday at their annual awards event. Alexis Thomason, Trenton Jones, Haley Dozier, Konnor Dagg, and Hunter Biggs were recognized with Illinois State Scholar Awards, and Dagg and Elaina Kunce won the U.S. Army Scholar-Athlete awards. Chris Henry, Ryland Thomason, Parker Richardson, and Blaine Milner were recognized for their plans to enter the National Guard, and Remington Wheeler was recognized for plans to enter the Army.
