The intersection of Northwest Fourth and Jackson streets in Brainerd will be closed to traffic beginning Monday, April 26, for construction of a roundabout.
The closure will block all access to and from Northtown, Riverside Drive and Beaver Dam Road and is expected to be in effect through the second week in June. The contractor will maintain a passable route for emergency vehicles only. During this time, traffic should use alternate routes. ....

Due to extremely muddy conditions, the Brainerd City Council agreed Monday, April 5, to install a gate across the road leading to the public boat access off Evergreen Avenue between north and northeast Brainerd. If naming Minnesota Department of Transportation snowplows wasn’t enough fun, Brainerd residents will get the chance to do the same in their city.
Brainerd City Council members agreed Monday, March 1, to let the public name eight pieces of snow removal equipment: four plow trucks, the loader and plower, the loader and snowblower, a road grader and a broom tractor.
Mike O’Day, chair of the council’s safety and public works committee, said Mayor Dave Badeaux brought the idea to him after seeing how successful MnDOT’s recent name-a-snowplow campaign was. ....
