LOWELL Old and recurring accounting problems opened the new year as Lowell Public Schools Chief Financial Officer Billie Jo Turner presented the newly inaugurated School Committee with an almost 100-page packet of more than $400,000 of so-called bad bills.
LOWELL Mary Burns, whose petition to build a single-family home on an undersized, vacant lot on Gibson Street was denied by the Zoning Board of Appeals in a 4-2 vote Sept. 11, has filed a complaint with the State Ethics Commission, for what she says was a process that was unfairly influenced by the actions of City Councilor Erik Gitschier.
