Morse was picked Thursday as Provincetown’s next town manager. McGee said he would speak with Morse in the coming days and release a statement before Tuesday’s City Council meeting. He cautioned against speculating until he has more information. When Morse will begin his job in Provincetown is unknown at this point. He still must negotiate a contract. Morse’s term as Holyoke mayor expires at year’s end. It was unclear if his early departure would trigger a special election.

New Bedford s Other Possible Mayoral Candidates [OPINION]

As the speculation continues about New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell leaving early to join the Biden Administration, the list of potential mayoral candidates grows. Mitchell has confirmed he has been in communication with the Biden-Harris presidential transition team about a position in the new administration. Should Mayor Mitchell leave, there will likely be an enormous number of candidates seeking to fill out the remaining years on his term. The first candidates that come to mind are former Mayor Scott Lang, State Representative Antonio Cabral, City Councilor Linda Morad, and current City Council President Joseph Lopes. I have written previously about this group of standouts, but there are other potential candidates, too.
