홍콩보안법 시행 1년 만에 홍콩 급변…민주화 탄압에 정치인 망명·해외이민 러시

[헤럴드경제=김수한 기자] 홍콩 국가보안법(홍콩보안법) 시행 1년 만에 홍콩이 정치적으로 급변하고 있다.
홍콩보안법을 바탕으로 중국 정부의 정치적 탄압이 극심해지면서 반중 민주화 시위를 지지했던 정치인들의 망명이 이어지고, 홍콩인의 해외 이민 러시가 뒤따르는 등 정치적 불안이 가중되고 있다.
30일로 시행 1년을 맞는 홍콩보안법은 중국 정부가 2019년 홍콩에서 6개월 이상 계속된 반정부 민주화 시위에 대한 대응으로 통과시킨 법이다.
이 법에 따르면 국가 분열·정권 전복·테러 활동·외세 결탁 등 4가지 범죄를 최고 무기징역형에 처할 수 있다.
홍콩 당국은 이를 바탕으로 대표적인 범민주진영 인사 50여명을 한날한시에 전격 체포하는 등 100여명을 체포하고 60여명을 기소했다.
