Hi, im kate and im the curator of votes for women. Im standing in front of what we call our title treatment. It is a large blowup of a german born actress. The allegorical figure that represents the United States during the conclusion of the 1913 parade in washington, d. C. Thats just one event of the long Suffrage Movement this exhibition highlights. We have 124 objects of this long history bringing it right up to 1920. But also the 19th amendment. And what it didnt do to enfranchise all women including women with color.
