A RADIOACTIVE gas could be present at a proposed site for four homes near Brampton. Radon is a colourless and odourless gas generated from naturally occurring tiny particles of uranium in rocks and soil. It has been linked with an increased risk of lung cancer because of the damage it can cause in living tissues. The finding was revealed in the site s contamination report for the land opposite The Dell, Talkin. Carlisle City Council received a revised application from Carlisle developer Citadel Homes Ltd following on from previous plans in December. According to the report by the Landmark Information Group, which did the analysis, there is an “elevated probability of radon” at the site.
