India s aviation security group (ASG) has received 6,500 new personnel over the past 18 months to deal with increasing passenger numbers and the expansion of existing and new airports. The ASG, a specialist arm of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), now has an overall strength of 37,000 troops, including commando-trained personnel. ....
The panel also emphasised the filling up of all vacancies on mission mode in central armed police forces and Assam Rifles. There were 83,127 vacancies in the CAPFs and AR as on January 1, 2023. Of these, 1,666 vacancies existed in AR, 19,987 in BSF, 19,475 in CISF, 29,283 in CRPF, 4,443 in ITBP and 8,273 in SSB, the report said. ....
The Chandigarh Police has arrested an engineer and his supplier in connection with an inter-state drug nexus. The main accused has been identified as Ashish Thakur, who has been peddling drugs for around 18 months. The police also arrested his supplier, Sawan Bodh. Another lab technician, Dishant Goyal, was also arrested with 62.78 gm of heroin. ....
A woman and her husband were booked under non-cognizable offenses at Lucknow airport after being denied boarding and physically assaulting a member of Akasa Air staff. The couple arrived late, and their flight s last boarding was closed. Despite the explanation, the woman became aggressive and slapped a female staff member. The couple was handed over to the police by CISF. Akasa Air emphasized that they have a zero-tolerance policy towards violence and disrespect towards staff and reported the incident to airport authorities and filed a complaint with local police. ....
A total of 321 private security personnel have been deployed at "centrally protected monuments/sites/museums in Uttar Pradesh during the last three years", according to data shared by the minister in his response. "The total fund allocation in the current financial year for restoration and conservation of centrally protected monuments, including religious monuments, in Uttar Pradesh is Rs 53.60 crore," the minister said. ....
