PETALING JAYA: The roar of modified engines will soon be heard on the country’s dirt tracks again.
Karamjit Singh, an icon in Malaysian motor rally, will lead a new mission to nurture young rally drivers in an effort to return Malaysian Rally to its glory days.
Karamjit will be working with Cisco Academy, a sister company of IT security firm Cisco, under its new Cisco Racing project.
Cisco managing director Rabin Nijhar said Cisco Racing was set up after he heard Karamjit’s story. ....

Cisco Security Academy has announced the formation of its new racing team – Cisco Racing – which will participate in the 2021 Malaysian National Rally Championship (MRNC), with national rally legend Karamjit Singh as its lead driver.
In December last year, it was reported that Karamjit had to sell his personal Proton Waja in order to purchase a new Saga that would be used as an e-hailing vehicle. The news caught not just the attention of the public, but also Cisco managing director Rabin Nijhar, who decided to reach out to Karamjit. What started out as a simple job offer eventually lead to Cisco Racing being formed. ....

The formation of the Cisco Racing team will serve as a stepping stone for Karamjit Singh, as the “Flying Sikh” is aiming for a return to a bigger stage, the Asia-Pacific Rally Championship (APRC). However, Karamjit will first need to cross a few hurdles before this can come into fruition.
According to Cisco managing director Rabin Nijhar, round one of the 2021 Malaysian National Rally Championship (MRNC) from June 26-27 will the first stage to determine the relevancy of the partnership with Karamjit. An encouraging result – be it a win or close to winning – will allow Cisco Racing to proceed to the next stage, which is to become the overall MRNC champion this season. ....
