Province adds funding, expands eligibility for circuit breaker business relief grant SHARE ON: The B.C. government is adding more than $75 million to the Circuit Breaker Business Relief Grant. This brings the amount available to over $125 million, for businesses hit hardest by the March 31st provincial health orders. The orders banning indoor dining and indoor adult group fitness will remain in place until May 25th. The grant remains open to roughly 14,000 restaurants, bars, breweries, wineries, gyms, and fitness facilities.  It’s now also open to the more than 5,300 hotels, motels, and other short-term accommodations impacted by the April 23 emergency order to restrict travel between B.C.’s regional zones.

Local bars and restaurants adapt to indoor dining ban

JOHN, B.C – Local bars and restaurants have adapted the best they could after the province announced its circuit breaker restrictions last month. It’s been a week since Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced an extension to the public health order until May long weekend. The order, announced March 29th, includes restrictions to indoor dining, indoor faith services, and group fitness. Since the announcement, local businesses like Beard’s Brewing and Montanas have had to change how they operate, hoping to survive the onslaught of restrictions the pandemic has brought along.

Funding added to the Circuit Breaker Business Relief Grant

The Government of B.C. has added more funding to the Circuit Breaker Business Relief Grant. There is $75 million being added to the grant bringing the total amount available to more than $125 million. The grant remains open to 14,000 restaurants, bars, breweries, wineries, gyms and fitness facilities impacted by the March 31 Provincial Health Officer’s Orders. The grant is now also open to more than 5,300 hotels, motels and other short-term accommodations that were impacted by the new travel restrictions between B.C.’s regional zones. The grant has been clarified to include high-intensity fitness facilities that were partially or fully closed as a result of the orders being issued. Businesses that previously applied for, or had received the grant that opened on April 12 do need not to apply again.
