Southwest joins United, American and Delta in banning emotional support animals - except for dogs and cats if they are stowed in carriers under seat for $95
On Monday Southwest Airlines announced it will ban emotional support animals on their flights starting March 1, 2021
United Airlines, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines and Delta Air Lines announced similar policies in the past weeks
Now only trained service dogs will be allowed into the cabin while not in a carrier
Customers may still bring dogs and cats but they must be kept in a carrier under the airplane seat and it will cost $95 each flight

Policy change comes just weeks after Department of Transportation said that it will no longer require airlines to accommodate emotional support animals
The decision could earn airlines an extra $60million a year
Airlines were previously required to allow animals for free with passengers who had a doctor s note saying they needed the animal for emotional support
