Scholarships awarded to Young Adult Committee May 18, 2021 FacebookTwitterEmail GODFREY The RiverBend Growth Association’s Young Adults Committee recently held its year-end ceremony virtually. The committee’s students, mentors and nine local member non-profit organizations were recognized for all their hard work during the 2020-2021 school year. This year the committee held a raffle that raised $10,000. The committee has two seniors and two juniors from each of the five participating high schools: Alton High School, Civic Memorial High School, East Alton-Wood River High School, Marquette Catholic High School and Roxana High School. This year the committee heard presentations virtually from nine RBGA member organizations: Alton Parks & Recreation, American Cancer Society, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Call for Help, Community Hope Center, Jacoby Arts Center, Kreative Kids, Madison County Child Advocacy Center, and Riverbend Family Ministries. ....
4-H Special Interest clubs starting this month Mineral Daily News-Tribune KEYSER - Youths in the eastern region of West Virginia can participate in 4-H Special Interest (SPIN) clubs starting this month. There are six different virtual programs lasting four to six weeks depending on the topic. Programs are free and offered to all youths in third grade and above. “Choose a topic of interest to you then register online through ZSuite.com,” says WVU Extension agent Margaret Miltenberger from Mineral County. “All topics will be interactive and taught by WVU Extension 4-H agents.” Classes include the following: Global Foods – Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 19 and 26 and Feb. 2, 9, 16, and 23. ....
