Four year old girl finds dinosaur footprint at Barry beach


THE best preserved fossil of a dinosaur footprint ever found in South Wales has been discovered by a four-year-old girl.
Lily Wilder was walking her dog with her dad, Richard Wilder, at Bendricks Beach in Barry when she spotted a dinosaur footprint in the rocks. They took photos and came back to the site with Lily s mum, Sally, and baby brother George.
Mrs Wilder, said: “Lily likes dinosaurs, especially her pterodactyl toy, and was so excited about her discovery.
She spotted a footprint in the rocks and it looked amazing; we weren t sure it it was real so I shared a photo on a Facebook group and had a huge response. ....

Dinosaur footprint found by girl, four, on Barry beach

A well-preserved dinosaur footprint has been discovered by a four-year-old girl on a beach.
Lily Wilder spotted it at Bendricks Bay, Barry, in the Vale of Glamorgan - and scientists believe it could help establish how they walked.
The footprint, spotted in January, is 220 million years old and had been preserved in mud.
While it is impossible to tell what type left it, the print is 10cm long and likely from a 75cm tall dinosaur.
National Museum Wales palaeontology curator Cindy Howells described it as the best specimen ever found on this beach .
It was Lily and Richard (her father) who discovered the footprint, said mum Sally. ....
