Coal India Ltd has released a tentative auction calendar stating that it will auction fuel linkages for non-regulated sectors in July each year. The auction is expected to be completed within nine months, with sub-sectors such as sponge iron, cement, captive power plant, and steel being auctioned in that order. Additionally, there will be two rounds of auction for the SHAKTI B (iii) Linkage, taking place in April/May and October/November. The Ministry of Coal in India has developed a strategy to ensure normal production of coal during the festive season, including offering higher wages to contractual workers. As a result, 21 lakh tonnes of coal were produced on Maha Ashtami, equivalent to a normal day. Coal production in the country has increased by 12.73% compared to the same period last year. After a long period of rain, coal production has picked up in the last 10 days, with a daily production of over 26.57 lakh tonnes. Despite high power demand, there is adequate availability of coal at all plants. ....
The Indian coal ministry expects coal dispatch to exceed one billion tonnes in the current fiscal year, according to a statement. The ministry has set a target to produce and dispatch 1,012 million tonnes of coal, and it anticipates that the second half of the year will see a higher rate of production and dispatch. In the previous fiscal year, 500 million tonnes of coal had been dispatched by 9 November, while this year the same mark was achieved on 17 October, 23 days earlier. ....
