lili geismer, let s start in the present before the past and a lot of the news today about the democratic party is the establishment versus bernie sanders. does that have a history to it? well, thank you so much for having me andalking to me about this. look, i think that one. things that there s a sense that this came out of nowhere, but they re deep-seated within the democratic party that have existed i would say since the 1970 s, but came into the forefront of the 1980 s. as the party was at really another crossroads where to go. after the defeat of walter mondale, in the primary and the 1984, the directions that the party could have gone in. and one was represented by someone like jesse jackson, more of a bernie sanders, actually bernie sanders supported him, but really stood for some of the kind of versions of democratic socialism, but i think the sanders campaign has represented. the other side is the mondale approach the traditional democratic party and the thi ....
