Two Doors Down (BBC Two), which is now into its fifth series, takes a well-worn scenario – neighbours, some of whom are awful – and gives it some bite. The nightmare neighbour in Two Doors Down is Cathy, an insufferable snob. As played by Doon Mackichan, she’s somehow both over-the-top and a reminder of at least one person you’ve met in real life. For this Christmas special, Cathy and her henpecked husband, Colin (Jonathan Watson) had been forced to cancel their Dubai getaway and instead hired a luxury lodge in the Highlands which they decided to show off by playing host to Beth and Eric (Arabella Weir and Alex Norton) and to Christine (Elaine C Smith), their Glasgow neighbours. ....
