View Comments One of the four women to file Equal Employment Opportunity Commission complaints against LSU Health Shreveport and Chancellor Dr. G.E. Ghali has been placed on administrative leave. Dr. Jennifer Woerner, an associate professor of oral and maxillofacial surgery, has been placed on administrative leave after formal complaints from unnamed medical residents were filed against her. Woerner and the three other women held a news conference last week to defend their filing of EEOC complaints and to urge a leadership change at the medical school. Allison Jones, the attornery representing Woerner and the three other women, questioned the timing of the complaints. ....
Jones is representing Jennifer Woerner, DMD, MD, associate dean of academic affairs; Sharon Dunn, PhD, dean of the School of Allied Health; Christina Notarianni, MD, director of pediatric neurosurgery; and Christi Rinaudo, EdD, of the department of academic affairs. Jones said the complaints against Ghali stem from ongoing gender-based discrimination and retaliation. Last month, after deep thought and much personal consternation, Jones clients filed claims with LSU s main Title IX office, charging that Ghali fostered pervasive gender-based discrimination, sexually inappropriate behavior, and permissiveness of sexually inappropriate behavior by male colleagues, according to a statement from Jones. LSU s Title IX office dismissed the women s claims, Jones said. ....

Ghali to be removed. Attorney Allison Jones represents the four high-ranking members of the school. Jones said Ghali allowed a toxic work environment that was hostile to women. “Under the leadership of Chancellor Ghali the LSU Medical School in Shreveport has a shameful record of condoning offensive, unbecoming, discriminatory, retaliatory, and unequal behavior,” said Jones, who specifically highlighted behavior by administrative employee Dr. Scott Kennedy, alleging his routine harassment of female coworkers was allowed by Ghali. ....
