Colleges and universities can better support first-generation students with three strategies to create intentional educational experiences for family members to be involved in students’ college experiences. First-generation students continue to make up a large portion of learners in U.S. colleges and universities. To promote academic success and retention, institutions can prioritize intentional communication and programs engaging family members.
