POPE FRANCIS I would like to express my closeness to the people of Central America, hit by strong hurricanes. In particular, I recall the Island of San Andrés, Providencia, and Santa Catalina, as well as the Pacific coast of the north of Colombia. I pray for all the countries who are suffering as a result of these disasters. The pope is familiar with the problems of the Colombian island territory and invited Efraín Sanmiguel, a journalist and activist from the Raizal community, to a private audience. He explained that just like Jesus did, Catholics should not hide from others needs and should instead open their hearts to other people s sorrows and fears. The pope added that it is necessary to pray, especially for those who suffer, don t know how to pray, or have lost their way in life. Pope Francis also highlighted that prayers of intercession are, in fact, an essential duty of every catholic. He said that while the whole Church has the mission of interceding for all, this duty falls particularly to those in positions of responsibility, such as parents, teachers, or priests. ....
