Before her ambulance even drove past us. and the ambulance only passed us for a good 30 or 40 seconds. people wanted to be connected to her making her way to the airport. they decided to come out here to wait to spend their time on a workday to say good-bye, give her their well wishes. there is so much sorrow in this community. so many people are optimistic as she makes her first leg towards houston. as you know, her husband mark kelly said she will come back here. she will return to this hospital, walk through the front door and thank the first responders that helped her, all of her doctors. so many people, chris, very optimistic as the wong come heads to houston. miguel, thank you. i want to reiterate what he said. never ceases to amaze me in situations like this the resillency and the hopefulness and kindness of people. and we re seeing it again today as gabby giffords makes her way to the air base in houston and hopefully a very significant ....
Heading over to davis-monthan air base, where she ll be on that plane. have you got any word now on how her staff is doing, how their office is operating, and just in general have you had a chance to talk to any of the folks? i know in the early days when i was there, miguel, there were people there every day. members of her staff would come over and talk to us. have you had a chance to update how all of those folks are doing? reporter: yeah, chris. we ve been back to her staff office almost every day since this incident happened. of course, they ve had highs and lows, some very difficult days and also some days of encouragement. many have been to the congresswoman s bedside. they have been there with her husband, mark kelly. they have received these updates and are very, their spirits are high and all of them we spoke to over the last several days said it was extremely important for them not only to be here for her first leg to rehab, but to be there at the airport to say good-bye. ....
