we have heard a lot of public comment, most of the supporting the cruise ship terminal, so i would like to defer to our legal counsel on the last comment that was made, just to let us know that it is ok to move forward or not. we do believe it is a party to move forward at this point in time. yes. commissioner brandon: thank you. i had the pleasure of serving on the commission with commissioner jimmy herman, and he was such a wonderful person. so to ditto some of the public comment on this is a great day in port history, in that we re finally, i hope, putting a shovel in the ground and building a new cruise terminal. this is my second opportunity on building a new cruise terminal, but i feel really good about this one. [laughs] i want to echo my fellow commissioners and applaud director moyer and the staff for bringing this item to assign such a short time span. it is a great item. without saying anything else, all in favor? resolutions 1175, 1176, 1177, and 1178 ha ....

wind elements out there. we are removing a substantial structure that, in some cases, blocks the wind. on the other hand, there still is a wind coverage from telegraph hill. so it has not been a design element. commissioner katz: because there s already a structure there with that would effectively have the impact is something new, i guess. finally, have we been working with the mta to come up with some solutions on some of the sporadic impacts on the transit system, such as the f-line. it seems that, maybe it is common sense, but it seems would scheduling, coming up with ways of we would advise them in advance when there might be increased need or use for the f- line. commissioner brandon: can you repeat that? commissioner katz: addressing some of the work we have done as we have anticipated some issues with the mta. for example, concerns were raised about the impact on the the f-line, but it would seem to me, as one of the earlier speakers mentioned, we have been quit ....

i appreciate one of the earlier speakers to abolish support staff s willingness to sit down and address concerns going forward. i appreciate what our staff has done and what they will continue to do. i just want to thank staff for all of the incredibly hard work that has gone into this in such a short time frame. and lastly, having met jimmy herman, who really was a force of nature, i am thrilled that the cruise ship terminal will be named in his honor. thank you. commissioner lazarus: there is an expression as some people like to use, if you want a job done right, you have to do it yourself. i think that assumes that you have a good skills that to do that. so i would like to observe as well that clearly the executive director has assembled the a team here at the port to get this to where we are today. i add my thanks and my commendation to everybody. i think the decision to try to do it ourselves, in conjunction with fellow city departments, was clearly the right one ....
