The hospitals expecting so many flu patients, it set up a special triage facility. Betty. Liz, this is the first time in recent years Regional Medical center has put up this flu tent outside. Inside today doctors treated patients who were not critically ill with the hopes of sending them home the same day. Today Regional Medical Center San Jose set up four hospital beds inside this tent next to the er to absorb the overflow of patients. Because of this, we felt that the Emergency Department had the potential to become somewhat overwhelmed. We wanted to be able to treat these patients quickly and safely. The hospital had seen um to 70 more patients a day come in with flulike symptoms. Most tested positive for h1n1 which caused the worldwide pandemic in 2009.
