good evening, i m pam moore. police say, this is the city s fifth officer- involved shooting of the year. and, the third resulting in a death. tonight, kron four s philippe djegal spoke with oakland s police chief who details what led up to the deadly shootng. phillipe :oakland police chief sean whent. : it was a loaded firearm, yes. phillipe :holds up a photo of the nine millimeter handgun found next to the suspect after officers opened fire. : the suspect did not fire any rounds at the police, no. phillipe :the chief says this all started in the afternoon, when officers in east oakland tried stoppng a car wanted in connection with an armed robbery reported in oakland last month. : but the person did not stop and a vehicle pursuit ensued. phillipe :the suspect. a 24-year old man from oakland. led police to the 27th street freeway off-ramp, where he crashed into a car and tired carjacking another. before three officers surrounded him a block away. : a
pistol in his hand. officers then discharged their firearms, striking the suspect. good evening, i m ken wayne, frank somerville is off tonight. i m julie haener. oakland police say the 24-year- old man gunned down this afternoon was an armed robbery suspect and they say the pistol he was carrying was loaded. officers say they first spotted the man in a car, at 69th and international in east oakland. the driver then led them across town to west oakland, where he crashed at 27th street and martin luther king way. ktvu s amber lee has been trying to piece together the series of events that led to the shooting and she s live now at opd headquarters with what the department is telling us. reporter: the officers involved in this deadly shooting were all wearing body cameras and those cameras did capture the shooting. the deadly confrontation took place here at mlk in west oakland after a 24-year-old suspect crashed this white car. the chase started across town in east oakland

he s connected. i said drop the gun, drop the gun. he turned around back to his store. one bullet narrowly missed her tenant. police say the man police killed threatened them. the suspect reached for a handgun. san jose police say she was wanted with an unsolved shooting of a man in his 30s. sunday s officer-involved shooting is the third in san jose in a week. officers attempted to make contact, they give them commands. they have a warrant, a felony warrant for murder and when they were trying to give the suspect commands, instead of complying, he reached for a handgun and officers fired at the suspect, two officers did and shot the suspect and he is pronounced dead at the scene. police have ordered the medical examiner to withhold the name of the man killed here last night. the spokesman said that information as well as the names of the officers involved may be released tomorrow. chuck, thank you. on the run in sunnyvale. a teen-ager fled the scene of a po
