Bill Gates’ money manager of nearly three decades is under fire for allegedly fostering a toxic work culture that included engaging in bullying, racism and sexual harassment.
For more than 27 years,
Michael Larson, 61, has managed Gates’ money and has grown the Microsoft co-founder’s wealth from $10 billion to almost $130 billion. Larson reportedly invested Gates’ money in farmland, hotels, stocks, bonds, and even a bowling alley.
According to a
New York Times report, several former staffers at Gates’ money-management firm, Cascade Investment, also called Bill and Melinda Gates Investments, describe Larson as a cruel businessman who often made racist and sexist remarks, bullied staffers, and retaliated against workers who quit the company. ....

Bill Gates' Money Manager Made Racist, Sexual Remarks: NYT

Former employees of Cascade Investment told the outlet that Michael Larson showed coworkers photos of naked women, judged female colleagues attractiveness in front of male employees, and fostered a culture of fear at the firm tasked with growing the Gateses wealth.
When an employee, Stacy Ybarra, told Larson she planned to leave Cascade for another company, Larson shorted that company s stock and told her he had done so to spite her, three people told The Times. (A spokesperson for Larson confirmed to The Times that Cascade shorted the stock but said it wasn t done to spite Ybarra).
Sources told the outlet that Larson would call employees stupid and dub their work to be garbage. ....

Giglio, as well as reps for the Times and ICM, did not respond to requests for comment.
Giglio, the former president of HL Strategic Solutions who joined Rubenstein last November to lead the company’s crisis management business, has handled giant misconduct cases in the past, including Les Moonves’ fallout when the former CBS chairman was accused of sexual harassment (and subsequently exited the company). Earlier this year, EGOT-winning film and theater producer Scott Rudin also hired Rubenstein following accusations of abusive and violent behavior toward his staff.
