Really frustrated including the city saying that they didnt know about this road work and that would have been incredibly important for them to know that. Caltrans says it would have been routine work if it wasnt for an accident, somebody allegedly driving around the cones, and that is what caused this huge headache yesterday. Pacifica natives know beach traffic on highway 1 can slow things down. But yesterday it was crazy. Ive never seen it backed up like that and ive lived here 30 years. Reporter traffic was backed up for miles. Caltrans was repaving a halfmile stretch of the southbound side. It was really slow and i had a screaming baby in the back. Reporter the work was supposed to be completed by 3 00 p. M. That time line was pushed back to 9 30 following a twocar accident. Caltrans says a driver went into the newly paved section of road. So we had to wait for the asphalt truck, which was caught in traffic, to make its way down to the scene. And then we had to remove all the aspha ....
