This week brings good news: as per updated COVID-19 protocols, Philadelphia museums are cleared to reopen. And a historic music venue hosts a weeklong concert to help keep it afloat.

Yes, Philadelphia’s museums are back after a state-mandated shutdown to stop the surge of coronavirus cases in the area. The Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Penn Museum, the Franklin Institute, the Academy of Natural Sciences, the Museum of the American Revolution, and the Barnes Foundation are all reopening as of this week. (Notable exceptions – the Please Touch Museum, the African American Museum in Philadelphia and the National Museum of American Jewish History – remain closed for the time being.) All of the museums are still operating under COVID-19 protocols including capacity limits and mandatory mask-wearing for visitors and staff. Noted musician to help raise money to try and save Chris' Jazz Café


Jazz pianist and Philadelphia native Eric Wortham II, used to sneak out to go to Chris’ Jazz Café as a teen. Coming from a religious household where his parents were preachers didn’t mesh well with their son frequenting jazz clubs but the musician said the venue holds some of his best memories and it’s worth saving.
“When I was finally old enough to perform at Chris’ Jazz Café, I was still afraid to get on the stage because the music was just so powerful. I signed up but went to the back to play pool. I was beating this one guy and he asked my name. Come to find out it was (musician) Luke O’Reilly. Talking to him, I felt like I had an ally. That was the first night I sat in on a jam session and I’m glad that I did,” he said. ....
