And because she did, No. 9 sectional tournament seed Evanston spilled No. 8 Lincoln Park 7-2 in the Class 4A regional opener at Oz Park in Chicago and advanced to the regional championship game on Thursday. The Wildkits will face top-seeded Whitney Young in that matchup. Goodwill struck out 15, just 2 shy of the ETHS single game record and a likely record for a postseason game, considering the program s lack of success in the Illinois High School Association state tournament series until recently. She fanned every Lion in the starting lineup at least once and scattered 6 hits. Goodwill walked 3 and both runs scored by the hosts were unearned. ....
Reply Now that the New Trier-Evanston softball rivalry has turned lopsided in another direction, Madison McGuire still believes it s special. That s why the Wildkits senior captain thought it was a good idea to bring back some throwback jerseys from the early days (circa 1970s-80s) for the first matchup of the 2021 season. McGuire did her best to make sure that the outcome didn t revert back to the days when the Trevians dominated the head-to-head rivalry - usually by the 10-run slaughter rule. But Tuesday, McGuire went 2-for-4 with a double and triple and 2 runs-batted-in as the Wildkits defeated the Trevians for the fifth time in a row, this time by a 9-3 margin. ....

ETHS students reflect on switch to hybrid learning model April 23, 2021 After more than a year of online classes, Evanston Township High School senior Chloe Haack said she wanted to spend at least some time in the building before her high school career ended. But she said that her first day back at ETHS definitely didn’t feel like things were back to normal. “Walking in, there were maybe 10 kids in the hallway at the same time, which, if you go to (ETHS), you know that having 3,000+ kids in the same hallway can be very overwhelming,” she said. “Only seeing 10 other kids in the hallway was a very weird and honestly apocalyptic type of experience.” ....
