Columbus Police have charged nine people in connection with last month s Chitt Fest destruction that resulted in numerous fires and flipped cars. The destruction during the annual block party on April 18 destroyed seven cars, according to The Lantern, Ohio State s student newspaper. The Lantern reported over 1,100 people gathered for the block party on Chittenden Avenue and surrounding streets hours after Ohio State s spring football game. Columbus Police on Thursday charged seven people with rioting and related offenses. Two other people were charged with receiving stolen property and criminal damaging. ....

The Ohio State University party, which occurred just a few blocks from campus, has been dubbed Chitt Fest, named after the street it took place on, according to Senior Vice President for Student Life Melissa Shivers. The weekend rave quickly turned violent, with police citing at least five overturned vehicles, several broken windows on local houses and hundreds of smashed beer cans.
