After serving the Auburn community for more than 66 years, the demolition of the old Olympic Middle School has begun. The Auburn School District community passed a $456 million bond in 2016 that built the new Olympic Middle School and also razed and rebuilt Chinook Elementary, Dick Scobee Elementary, Lea Hill Elementary, Pioneer Elementary and Terminal Park Elementary. The bond built Auburn’s two newest elementary schools, Bowman Creek and Willow Crest. The new Olympic Elementary opened in 2019, but the old building has served as an interim site for four of the elementary schools that were rebuilt.
Local 86 Iron Workers, Auburn School District staff, school board members and others celebrated the milestone of the topping-off ceremony at Terminal Park Elementary on Nov. 15.
