One Country, Two Systems Has Changed Into A 1.5 System When speaking of the change in Hong Kong s electoral system, Chao Shao-kang bluntly criticized it as subverting Deng Xiaoping s speech and asked how there could be two systems in this way. Chao went on to say that that One Country, Two Systems had changed into a 1.5 system, and now only a 1.1 system is left. Hong Kong is still not exactly the same as the mainland, but almost the same. Hong Kong s Legislative Council is dead and replaced by the Chinese National People s Congress. Chao stressed that the situation in Taiwan was different from that in Hong Kong, whose sovereignty had been taken back by China. But Taiwan, the Republic of China was a sovereign and independent country. Taiwan had been closely watching Hong Kong, paying great attention to how Beijing treated Hong Kong and its people.

黃捷), Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) officials on Sunday (Feb. 7) stated that if the Kuomintang (KMT) continues with more recall campaigns, it will only make people think that the party will never grow up. According to political analysts, the KMT has repeatedly called for and promoted dismissals of rival politicians, with an overlying goal of holding an anti-ractopamine pork referendum. Last month, DPP Taoyuan City Councilor Wang Hao-yu (王浩宇) was removed from office via recall vote. Analysts said that since the KMT has been organizing anti-ractopamine demonstrations for some time, the public has likely grown sick of hearing the same party rhetoric.
CBC Maliciously Mischaracterizes Epoch Times in Effort to Continue to Discredit the Outlet
Recently, some competitor media published biased, misleading reports about The Epoch Times. Please see our past response to NBC and The New York Times (click on the hyperlinked text).
On Jan. 29, the CBC published reports on The Epoch Times’ recent sampling edition delivered by Canada Post.
The national broadcaster’s report was the second top story on CBC’s website on the morning of Friday, Jan. 29, and was the first segment on CBC Radio’s World Report. It was also heavily promoted on CBC radio.
CBC is trying to discredit us by saying we’re covering “the QAnon conspiracy theory” in both its online report and early in its radio segment, which sets the tone for its reporting.
Due to CBC’s Past Bias, Epoch Times Publishes Its Response to Broadcaster’s Inquiry
Please see our response to the CBC reporter’s inquiry after our statement below.
In early January 2021, The Epoch Times published a 28-page sample edition distributed to select areas by Canada Post to grow our readership and subscription base, a common and established practice in the publishing industry.
The sample edition includes and showcases a collection of our articles on national and international news, opinions, health, culture and other lifestyle content, as well as a 10-page special report on Beijing’s persistent efforts to influence, and infiltrate, Canada and the West, including Canadian politicians.
