The Oklahoma City Zoo family mourns the loss of a 9-month-old Chilean flamingo juvenile that had to be euthanized over the weekend.
According to zoo officials, the male juvenile tripped Saturday while exiting the indoor flamingo habitat with his flock at the Children s Zoo habitat. The fall resulted in a life-threatening leg fracture that couldn t be treated.Sign up for our Newsletters
After consulting with the zoo s veterinary team, officials made the difficult decision to humanely euthanize the juvenile flamingo.
