Tom to walk an incredible 630 miles for Child Action Northwest
A Rossendale man is walking an incredible 630 miles to raise funds for Child Action Northwest.
Tom Keir will be trekking along the ‘South West Coast Path’ – a National Trail that runs from Minehead in Somerset and along the coasts of Devon and Cornwall. The walk will finish at Poole Harbour in Dorset. And he is doing all whilst carrying all his belongings and tent on his back!
Tom said: “This walk will be a growing experience alongside an opportunity for me to challenge my own mental and physical health. 
“On reflection of my own childhood struggles, I realised how important a safe space is for children and adolescents to talk and be supported. Growing up I found it difficult to discuss my childhood struggles, maybe due to a lack of local accessible support, stigma, or the potential damage to future career opportunities.  ....

Tributes to Blackburn Orphanage Cup organiser Tom Tatham


Tom Tatham, secretary of the Orphanage Cup, passed away aged 72 on Christmas Eve.
He held many roles in the charity event for nearly 40 years and was also a steward at Blackburn Rovers. His passion and commitment in helping to stage the Orphanage Cup helped to ensure tens of thousands of pounds was raised for Child Action North West.
The Orphanage Cup, which has been played in Blackburn since 1952, has featured some of the longest established companies and associations. Most amateur footballers in the borough will have competed in the tournament.
Tom and wife Carole started helping with the Orphanage Cup in 1982. Tom also played in the cup himself and for various other football and cricket teams. ....
