BDA has floated the tender for the development of Chikkabanavara Lake in Chikkabanavara Village, Yeshwanthpura Hobli, Bengaluru North Taluk at the cost of Rs 12.60 crore. Spread over 170 acres, the lake has been receiving sewage inflow from residential units since 2010.
Bengaluru BJP MP Tejasvi Surya alleged that the K-RIDE, a Special Purpose Vehicle looking after the Bengaluru Suburban Railway Project (BSRP), is posing a challenge to the progress of the project.
Experts say the onus is on the state government to fill in all the vacancies in K-RIDE along with the appointment of a full-time MD to accelerate the pace of the project.
Moreover, in response to the escalating traffic challenges in the city, the government has decided to create two additional traffic police stations. One will be located in Chikkabanavara in the north, while the other will be established in Jannabharati in the west. Each of these traffic police stations will be staffed by one traffic police inspector, six sub-inspectors, 12 assistant sub-inspectors, 22 head constables, and 44 constables. “As traffic congestion grows, the addition of these new traffic police stations will help in better traffic management and ensuring road safety,” said an official.
The police identified the deceased as Chand Pasha and his mother, the accused, as Sufiabi, 60. The incident took place around 4.45 pm at their residence in Chikkabanavara, when Sufiabi poured a flammable substance on her son before “accidentally” igniting it.
