The Peace Panel was saddled with the responsibility of resolving the contentious issues and uniting party leaders in the zone and tackling crisis bedevilling the states chapters of the party in the region.
The APC has become comatose in the South South axis sequel to the prevailing power struggle and division among the critical stakeholders.
Some state chapters of the party are entangled in crisis over who controls the party’s structures.
Others have been polarised with parallel executives running them to the detriment of the party and its chances of winning future elections.
Some states like Rivers are running parallel executives while the political bigwigs have maintained sealed lips and failed to reconcile their differences to form a united front ahead of future elections.

The South South zone of All Progressives Congress (APC) has passed a vote of confidence on the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, even as it appointed former chairman of the party, John Odigie-Oyegun to lead the zonal reconciliation efforts of the party. According to a communique issued yesterday after its meeting in Abuja, which was attended by party dignitaries from the region, including serving ministers, Senators and heads of agencies, meeting resolved that the zonal leaders must work together in harmony in the interest of the party and the people. The communique signed by the National Secretary of the Party’s Caretaker/ Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), Sen. John James Akpanudoedehe and Lucky Imasuen, said the meeting also condemned the divisions amongst the leaders and urged on the need to foster unity in the zone.

The Caretaker/ Extra-Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee of the All Progressives Congress yesterday appointed, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, as chairman of its South-south reconciliation committee.
The was disclosed in a communique signed by the Secretary of the committee and an APC Chieftain from South-south, Lucky Imasuen shortly after a meeting of the party leaders from the geo-political zone in Abuja.
The communique also named other members of the committee as: Lucky Imasuen, secretary; Chief Sunny Jackson, Dr. Mrs. Maryam Ali, Dr. Sam Jaja, Senator Clever Ikisikpo and Chief Emmanuel Nsan.
The communique read in part, “The meeting applauds Mr. President for the tremendous work he is doing under very difficult circumstances. Consequently, a vote of confidence was passed on the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee of the All Progressives Congress has appointed a former National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, as the chairman of its South-South reconciliation committee.
This is coming on the heels of a meeting held by party stalwarts from the South-South, in Abuja on Tuesday with a view to reposition the party ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The decision appointing Odigie-Oyegun was contained in a communique signed by the Secretary of the APC CENCPC, Senator John Akpan- Udo-Edehe and an APC chieftain from the region, Lucky Imasuen, after a meeting of the APC leaders at the Ladi Kwali Hall, Sheraton Hotel, Abuja, on Tuesday.
