In the wake of the allegation that a Marblehead police officer carved a swastika into the side of a fellow officer’s car, we, the undersigned Marblehead residents, are writing to request your consideration of several requests relative to hiring and professional development practices as well as to the independent investigation into this particular incident.

Marblehead Police Officer Timothy Tufts has resigned in the wake of allegations that he scratched a swastika into the paint of another officer’s vehicle. In mid-November, I was made aware of an incident involving a Marblehead Police officer in which they allegedly scratched a swastika into the paint of another officer s personal vehicle,” said Police Chief Robert Picariello in a prepared statement. I immediately began to gather the facts of the incident, and the officer was placed on administrative leave pending an investigation, consistent with the policies and procedures of the department.”

A police officer in Marblehead has resigned after a swastika was scratched into the paint of another officer’s personal vehicle, officials said Wednesday.
Police Chief Robert Picariello announced in a statement that Officer Timothy Tufts has resigned from the department as a result of the incident.
