Your Excellency, Mr. President Panuelo,
Hafa Adai from Guam.  I hope this letter finds you in good health and spirit.  I am writing to you as your constituent and a friend and I am writing on behalf of the many FSM Citizens who are stranded outside of their home states, many of them are dependent on their relatives for help for a long long time.   For my case, I have been away from the FSM and most especially been separated from my children for more than a year.  Many others including patients, students, government employees, and FSM citizens who visited their families abroad are financially, emotionally, physiologically, and physically drained and suffered for more than one good long year.  With great respect, the love of our nation and states, and to allow the necessary time for the FSM and its states to prepare and establish the necessary health and safety protocol, trainings, and build quarantine facilities, we unselfishly chose perseverance over what others might ha ....

Pohnpei On February 17, 2021, the Pohnpei State COVID-19 Task Force met and unanimously decided to conduct a re-test on all the MV Chief Mailo crewmembers and one passenger.  The decision to conduct these tests were in response to a letter from President Panuelo to Governor Oliver to disembark one person from the MS Chief Mailo and bring in the vessel to provision and fuel.
The Task Force’s understanding of the MS Chief Mailo COVID-19 situation was that one POSITIVE case still remained on board.  A joint medical report confirmed the POSITIVE test as a historical case, no other tests were conducted after that.  Task Force Medical Advisor, Dr. Rally Jim, confirmed that while the historical case remains POSITIVE, a risk of infection, however small, still remained.  ....

Confirmed FSM COVID-19 case deemed 'historical case'

Staff Reports
On Tuesday, the Federated States of Micronesia deemed its first and so far only case of COVID-19 a historical case, meaning the individual is not sick with the virus now nor is the person at risk of spreading it to others.
The person had COVID-19 in the past.
“The question, then, is why he is testing positive now through PCR tests but not before? said Dr. Eliaser Johnson, the national epidemiologist.
Johnson has reached out to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for advice, but he said people can still show symptoms of COVID-19 long after the virus ends. He recommended the antigen test, set for Jan. 22, to help determine the next stage of quarantine for the crew member of the cargo ship Chief Mailo.  ....

FSM: Confirmed case of Covid-19 'likely historical' | News

PALIKIR, Pohnpei (FSM Information Services) — On Jan. 19, 2021, the Covid-19 Task Force of the Federated States of Micronesia met to discuss a range of issues, such as the current status of the confirmed case of Covid-19 onboard the MV Chief Mailo, and the status of the FSM’s Covid-19 vaccination distribution.

In the meeting, Dr. Eliaser Johnson — the FSM’s epidemiologist — described the Jan.18, 2021 Covid-19 test results for the crew of the MV Chief Mailo, wherein all crewmembers were again found to be negative except for the positive case identified on Jan. 7, 2021. It is the opinion of the Covid-19 Task Force, to be confirmed in a subsequent antigen test on Jan. 22, 2021, that the individual isolated onboard the MV Chief Mailo with Covid-19 has a “historical case,” i.e. that he is not presently sick and is not infectious. ....
