LAHORE: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan has directed the Punjab University (PU) to get criminal cases registered against its employees involved in stealing the record of degrees. The chief justice passed this order in a petition filed by Ms Gulzar Butt, a senior member of the bar, seeking verification of academic degrees of lawyers, especially those contesting elections. A counsel for the university submitted a report about the verification of LLB degrees of the lawyers contesting elections of different bar associations. The report showed that record of some degrees was found missing and the officials concerned were being taken to task. ....
LAHORE: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan on Thursday dismissed a petition seeking an order for constitution of a joint investigation team (JIT) in the matter of recent protest by Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) and also slapped a fine on the petitioner. Advocate Imran Javed Qureshi on behalf of his organisation – Legal Awareness and Protection Centre Law Firm - filed the petition. The lawyer argued that the protests after the arrest of TLP leader Saad Rizvi caused immense problems to the people and the police also failed to fulfil its responsibility. After hearing initial contention of the lawyer, Chief Justice Khan observed that the petition was baseless and frivolous. The CJ asked the lawyer as to who would be held responsible for the loss of life and property caused by the protests. ....

The chief justice observed that the masses would crush those not saying Pakistan Khappay . Latif appeared before the court along with his counsel to plead a petition against registration of a case against him on charges of maligning state institutions. Admonishing the petitioner, Chief Justice Khan said how anyone could speak against the country. âOne should remain loyal to the country, not any individual. White Star/File LAHORE: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan on Tuesday restrained the district government from further demolishing “Khokhar Palace”, the residences of PML-N leader Saiful Malook Khokhar, and directed both sides to approach the civil court for the resolution of the dispute. The chief justice also suspended a directive of Lahore’s deputy commissioner about bulldozing the palace, however, restrained the Khokhar brothers from reconstructing the demolished property till a decision from the civil court. The leader of the opposition party had filed a contempt of court petition against the action of the government. ....
