PHOTO: FedEx truck catches fire on U.S. 167; no injuries

El Dorado firefighters responded Tuesday afternoon with the Old Union Volunteer Fire Department to a FedEx truck on fire near the Champagnolle exit off Highway 167. EFD Assistant Chief Jason Evans said the VFD provided water from a tanker truck to extinguish the blaze, which began in the truck s engine compartment. The entire front of the truck, including the cab, was badly burnt, but Evans said no one was injured as a result of the fire. Evans said the driver of the FedEx truck pulled over when he saw smoke coming from the engine compartment. The cause of the fire wasn t determined. The fire was extinguished around 5:30 p.m. The Union County Sheriff s Office and Arkansas State Police also assisted at the scene with traffic control. Check eldoradonews.com for updates. ....

The first time Manatee County EMS District Chief Jason Evans, a Palm Aire resident, delivered a baby, he was called to a jail cell at Port Manatee. Though the jail did have a medical staff, this mother-to-be went into labor early, and Evans was called in.
“I was terrified,” Evans said. “I m a young paramedic. This is the first baby I ve ever delivered. I learned how to do it in paramedic school, but I ve never done it for real. But (I was) very fortunate that mom was brave, mom was strong.”
The baby came with no complications, and Evans, who now has delivered four babies during his 20-year-career, said it was one of the most rewarding experiences he could have. ....

BRADENTON, Fla. (WWSB) - Jami and Donnie Nelson were trying to get to the hospital. The traffic on I-75 wouldnât let them, and they had a baby on the way.
âI didnât have any idea it was a YMCA, I was just seeing a parking lot where I could potentially pull off and give birth to our son here,â Donnie said. ....
