The Cocoa Health and Extension Division of Ghana Cocoa Board, Hohoe-Kpeve Cocoa District in the Volta Cocoa Region has on Thursday, 25/02/2021 held Cocoa Farmer Rally on Environment, Child Labour and Gender Issues at Nkonya Wurupong in the Biakoye District of the Oti Region.
Speaking at the rally, the District Cocoa Officer, Mr. Emmanuel Ofori said, “the District has begun Cocoa Rehabilitation Programme. Under this programme, CSSVD infected farms, as well as over-aged farms, will be cut, replanted and maintained for 2 years by COCOBOD with the support of the farmer before handing over fully to the farmer. ....

UGBS Alumni Association celebrates Chocolate Day with cocoa farmers at Kwahu Bepong

The National Chocolate Day which was instituted in 2005 to coincide with Valentine’s Day which is commemorated on 14th February every year has become a memorable day in the Ghanaian calendar.
This day is mostly celebrated in the urban centres whilst the cocoa farmers who toiled to produce the cocoa beans for the chocolate are left out of the celebrations.
In view of this, the Executive Members of the Alumni Association of the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS) embarked on a trip to Kwahu Bepong in the Eastern Region of Ghana to celebrate the “Chocolate Day” with cocoa farmers of the town. ....

Vegetable farmers meet to discuss marketing challenges
The Amanase Akuafo-hene (Chief Farmer), Opanin Ampofo, has stated that; “strengthening farmer groupings in urban vegetable production systems, is seen as one of the ways of solving farmers marketing problems”.
He, therefore, advised vegetable farmers in the country to form groups in their communities, to help address specific challenges confronting them.
The Akuafo-hene was addressing some vegetable farmers from the Amanase Zone of the Ayensuano District in the Eastern Region at Amanase at the weekend.
The meeting also discussed among other issues, how the farmers would get ago-chemicals at affordable prices including; protective gloves and attire for spraying. ....
