After the dust settled on May 1, following a crowded 10-person race, attorney Mattie Parker and former AT&T executive Deborah Peoples received the highest number of votes, but neither attained the 50% needed to win outright and avoid a runoff. Peoples took 33.6% of the vote, while Parker received 30.8%.
